Yes, it’s true. An inch of snow brought Portland, Oregon to its knees. People took hours to crawl home on the dusted freeways; cars were abandoned after the first slippery slide. All schools and most work closed up tight. This is my first trek out in 3 days.

We live near Washington, DC, where an inch of snow can also be paralyzing. We had “Car-maggedon” a few years ago, when a dusting of snow at rush hour led to chaos–people abandoning their cars or being stuck on the roads for hours. Glad I work from home!
I think some of it is because there are so many cars.
