CAT POETRY 2 – Do Cats Dream

Do cats dream?

Do old cats leap and play as in their kitten days?

Do crippled cats run the hills on unfettered legs?

Do indoor cats prowl the jungle wilds?

In their dreams, are sick cats whole again?

Do feral cats dream of a safe place?

Do lost cats dream of home?

Does the cat who has reached his senior years

dream of times before pain

and wonder why?

Does the cat on the path to the Rainbow Bridge

dream of what is to come,

and if so,

is it beautiful?

Mom thinks pets dream. She thinks the doggie dreams of chasing rabbits, and of her prior family that never came to claim her when she wound up in the kennel. She thinks I dream of eating live hummingbirds and mousies. We kitties don’t give away our secrets. That is why we have endured.
