Lynley Cannon, star of the Crazy Cat Lady cozy mystery series, is often referred to as a crazy cat lady herself, but when it comes to the feline species, this sixty-something cat shelter volunteer knows her stuff. Check here each Friday for instructive and intriguing information on our favorite subject: cats!
Hydration is a key element of cat health. Have water bowls in multiple places throughout the house instead of only at the feeding station. Cats may be distracted by the food and neglect the water.

Hydration sure is important to prevent kidney disease.
An excellent point.
Yes, water for cats is important! Besides providing multiple water dishes, my husband and I add water regularly to their food too.
Good idea!
What a lovely picture selfie. Keeping cool and hydrated sure aint no mystery to us, but some of our humans do still need to learn. Multiple dishes is a great way to do it for indoor cats. For outdoor cats too, and we have a bowl by our door in summer, just in case some poor feline needs a drink.

A few more good suggestions how to keep kitties hydrated! Thanks, Erin.
Good advice, kitties 😀 Like the drawing too 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Day 🙂 ❤
Thanks! We want our kitties to be happy and healthy.
Aww… cute. Did you did that artwork Miss Mollie. Thank goodness Mom is doing the bowl thing right. She keeps a water bowl for me by my food bowls and a water glass for me on the bedside table (well, we share that one). And she leaves an extra water bowl out when the petsitter checks on me when her & Dad are away.
No, I didn’t do the artwork. I’m not much of a cat artist.
Little also has a glass of water, but hers is on the coffee table. I think a lot of cats like drinking out of a glass.
That’s very true. I love drinking water out of my special mug!
A mug sounds like fun.
The artwork on these books is so cute! That advice is great too. Kitties need to stay hydrated so that their bodies can function optimally. Dehydration can lead to all kinds of problems – especially in the urinary tract.
Plus, researchers are finding out that cats don’t want water by their feeding stations. For some reason they want to be away from their food when they drink their water. This helps them stay hydrated as well! Thanks, Mollie
Cats will be cats.
That’s why we love them so!
