There is a conflict between those who believe cats should run free and those who think they should be kept inside for their own safety. Though cats need stimulation to thrive, our outdoors is fraught with dangers in the form of cars, wildlife, and unfortunately, a smattering of malicious people.

Gosh, it is so very difficult to decide but a lot if not the vast majority of cats in UK are indoor/outdoor cats. Some do get run over, and killed which is a tragedy. I am an outdoor cat as was raised there so maybe I have a different view of things even though I now like to come in to the warmth of a house and not be hurt or chased.

I know the US and the UK have somewhat different views on whether cats should be indoors-only or not. I wonder if the US isn’t a bit more dangerous than where you live? I finally brought in my last indoor/outdoor cat when he was attacked by a raccon. It may be selfish, but knowing my cats are safe give me peace of mind. I wish my husband would finally build me that catio though.
