Lynley Cannon’s FRIDAY FELINE FACTS & FANCIES, Noises

Lynley Cannon, star of the Crazy Cat Lady cozy mystery series, is often referred to as a crazy cat lady herself, but when it comes to the feline species, this sixty-something cat shelter volunteer knows her stuff. Check here each Friday for instructive and intriguing information on our favorite subject: cats!

It is common for cats to be afraid of loud noises, especially thunder. It is best to leave them alone; they will find the place where they feel safest, often under a bed or couch where the sound is muffled.

  1. Brian says:

We’re sure not fans of loud noises, especially my Brother Simon!

  2. Mine like to sit beside my chair and look up at me for reassurance. If I sit quietly and look at them, and don’t jump up and run, all must be well. When I am not there, well, they probably do as you say. How would I know?

  3. Valentine says:

I don’t mind thunder or firework boomies, but the white kitty before me freaked out when he heard thunder and so does my Tortie kitty neighbor. What does Little think of boomies, Miss Mollie?

  4. Allison says:

Three of my cats are okay with noise. My youngest hates fireworks, construction work, and other loud noises. When I started training her as a therapy cat, my biggest concern was whether she could handle the noises in senior residences. She stays super alert, but enjoys being a therapy cat.
