COSMIC CAT, the 6th Crazy Cat Lady Cozy Mystery, is underway! I just finished the fourth draft, the one where I go through and plug in all the research results, cull through the overused words, and generally clean up the flow. It’s also where I hope to have fixed any inconsistencies. And it’s where I begin to think about the cover.
I have my cover designed and all ready to go, but the quandary is when to reveal it. I wouldn’t want people to be tired of it by the time the book comes out, which will be several months from now. On the other hand, it’s good to get it into the public eye. Besides, it features another original painting by cat artist Leslie Cobb, and who doesn’t like seeing beautiful artwork of cats?
Or in this case, cat. There is only one cat on the cover of Cosmic Cat, but she is important. Her name is Kitty, and Lynley takes her on when her cohabitor is murdered at a comic-con. Little does Lynley know that Kitty is highly cat-reactive! Lynley already has eight cats in her home, so it’s going to be a problem!
Here’s a little about Cosmic Cat:
When a superhero cosplayer falls to his death at a comic con, Lynley is left holding the bag— and a cat!
Who killed Captain Cat?
His tribe, the Planet Avengers, want to know.
The costumed crusaders are out to save the world and have been known to ruffle a few feathers, but so far, only cat shelter philanthropist Esmae Westhouse has been accused of the crime. Esmae isn’t talking. Is that because she’s guilty, or is she covering for someone.
To determine if the death was a personal affair or something much more insidious,
Lynley dons her Star Trek uniform to go undercover with the vigilante cosplayers, but when another of the Avengers is killed, things happen fast, and Lynley finds herself on the wrong end of murder.
After all this talk about the Cosmic Cat cover, I got excited and nearly revealed it right here and now, but Tyler stepped in and saved me from myself. As you can see, he is very successfully hiding the book with the magnificent bulk of himself.
Maybe next time…
